Today I’m going to share about how to get unstuck. Yes, unstuck.

Are you feeling stuck in your life, in your business, in your career? Does it feel like it’s just going nowhere, you’re like banging your head on the wall saying, “Why aren’t things happening for me?”
Well, this is one of the things that I think all of us end up doing at certain times in our lives, and I certainly have had times where I felt really stuck, and have been in a room looking around and thinking, “Is this it? Is this my life? Am I stuck here?”
It took me years to actually figure out that the only person keeping me stuck was myself. I was to blame, it was all my fault.
That was because I had made these decisions, and I got myself into this job and this career that was really making me quite miserable, but I couldn’t really see a way out, at all.
I thought that I was literally dropped in a prison. But I don’t feel that way anymore, and I have taken action.
The first thing I would recommend, if you’re feeling stuck in your life and you want to get unstuck, is to acknowledge where you are.
Just feel grateful for exactly where you are right now, because it has brought you to a space where you realize that you want more. This is really exciting, because you’ve acknowledged that you’re stuck.
You’ve acknowledged that you need to make some kind of shift, and make changes in your life to allow yourself freedom, and to allow what you want to flow into your life.
You may have been part of My Dream Life and Biz Creators group when we did the decluttering challenge. The first thing that I would certainly recommend doing is decluttering, and this may seem like, “How is that going to get me unstuck?”
Well, take this instance: one of the participants in the Dream Life and Biz Creators group decluttered and cleared out some different areas of her home, because as a feng shui consultant can tell you, different parts of your life are represented in different parts of your home.
As she went through her decluttering, she actually got offered a job.
She’d been looking for a part-time job for six years, and three and a half years ago she went for a job interview with a man. He just didn’t think she was fully suitable, that the hours didn’t fit, so she didn’t get the job.
After the decluttering challenge, she actually got the job. He rang her three and a half years later and said, “Hi, are you still looking for a job?”
She did the decluttering challenge – so she actually got rid of stuff, she cleared out her wardrobes, she cleared out her underwear, and went into all of those spaces and those places that needed clearing out.
That will be my first, first, first of all tips to get you unstuck: declutter.
Just have a look around your home and see where there’s stuff, like excess stuff that you don’t use anymore, that you don’t want, that you want to get unstuck from.
Perhaps it’s like you want to change your career, yet you still have a whole load of all the notes, all the books, all of the information, everything to do with that career or that business, and you’re wondering why you can’t move on. It’s because you have stacks of that stuff up in your attic, get rid of it.
The second thing is to take action through movement.
This is a huge part in my personal journey into getting unstuck. I started yoga, believe it or not. I ended up training to become a yoga teacher as a result of starting yoga, because as my body started to move, and as I started to really open up physically, the opportunities and the ideas started to flow into my life.
I would recommend starting to take action. Exercise, physical action, just move your body: whether it’s dancing, whether it’s joining a yoga class, whether it’s just doing something different, like stepping out of your comfort zone.
This is where you need to move to get unstuck. It has to feel a little bit like, “Ooh, I’m not sure about this.”
I remember so vividly my first yoga class, I was sitting there and the teacher turned to us and we did a quick few minutes meditation, and then he said, “This is an hour for you.”
Genuinely, the tears started to roll from my eyes, because I had not taken an hour for me in absolutely years. I was working seventeen hour days, I was in a job and a relationship that I was completely miserable in. I was only thinking about everybody else.
I didn’t attune to what I wanted, to what my hearts desires were.
Just take action to do something, just anything, whatever it is that you’ve always wanted to do, even take up an art class – go do one thing.
It may not necessarily be in the direction of getting you unstuck in that career, or that life, or that business, but it is going to help you once you move out of that comfort zone. Just one step, it doesn’t need to be the whole journey.
Now, on the Camino de Santiago, which I did some of, several years ago, one of the things that struck me the most was that every morning you’d wake up, and the weather would be different.
Every single day the weather was different. It could be foggy, it could be rainy, it could be cloudy, it could be sunny, and each day all we looked for was one yellow arrow that pointed us in the direction of Santiago.
For me this became an absolutely huge symbol, and I don’t know, just a kudos for life in general: because all we need to look for is the one sign and the one step that we need to take today.
We don’t necessarily need to take massive, big, epic jumps and quit our jobs or change our careers or start new businesses overnight. We just take some baby steps each day: one step, ask where that step is.
The focus isn’t on seeing how stuck you are, but seeing what it is you want.
This is a really tricky question, and by journaling about what it is you want, and what it is you want to see, and how you want things to unfold for yourself, the real goal starts to unfold for you, your business, and your life.
Because if you don’t know what you want, how can you start to receive it?
Tune in to what energies you want, take action, and stop focusing on what you don’t have – focus on what you do have. You have a life, you have a body, you have opportunities.
They’re out there, they’re just doors that you haven’t found to open yet. Start asking for doors to open by doing something that pushes you outside of your comfort zone.
For me it was yoga, it moved me out of my comfort zone, it opened my entire body, and all of a sudden I was doing something for myself and my body responded. The opportunities opened, my mind started to go, “Wow.”
I started to become more flexible – more flexible in my body, yes, but I’m now more flexible in my life.
